Starting Early
Louis Gervais has been dancing ever since his first performances at 5 years old on his neighbor’s coffee table.   

Louis is currently inspired by contact improvisation.
Since his tap dance beginnings, Louis has studied a number of dance styles including ballet, jazz, and modern dance.
His Career
Louis has appeared with more than 30 dance companies during his professional career.  Most notable among them are Jennifer Muller/THE WORKS, Laura Dean Dancers and Musicians and The Lar Lubovitch Dance Company based in New York City.  Compagnie Marie Chouinard of Montreal with whom he danced for many years provided him with his most memorable professional performing experiences.

Solo Artist
As a solo artist, Louis’s dance work is very theatrical and spiritually inspired.
He has also created a critically acclaimed interactive family show entitled Red Light Rooster!

Louis in Academia
Louis has been well received on the faculties of the University of Southern Maine, Bates, and Bowdoin Colleges.  Louis has worked for many years as a teaching artist in Building Community Through the Arts; a residency program which creates community by bringing the performing arts into rural Maine high schools.  Louis received his MFA in Dance at the University of Washington in Seattle in 2009.

Chakra Balancing
Louis is currently creating a somatic form (body/mind technique) that emerges from his mature spiritual/physical practice.  Chakra Balancing is the synthesis of his life long study of yoga, meditation and the chakra system.
